The Famous RUM of Nepal “Khukri XXX Rum”
In 1959, a trio of entrepreneurs founded a distillery in Kathmandu that began crafting rum, branding it Khukri after the iconic Nepali knife. Prior to this, Nepal’s liquor scene was predominantly homebrewed concoctions, making the launch of this brand a significant milestone. Since then, the dark rum has garnered devoted followers in Nepal and beyond.
Now, over six decades later, three distilleries were created—one in Nepal, another in Bhutan, and a third in Sikkim—each playing a role in the vibrant traditions of rum production in the area.”
Known for its unique maturation process in oak vats using Himalayan spring water, Khukuri comes in several varieties, including Khukri XXX Rum, Coronation Khukri Rum, Khukri White Rum, and Khukri Spiced Rum, each aged for a minimum of eight months with an alcohol content of 42.8%.
The flagship Khukri XXX Rum offers a rich blend with a lingering aroma, smooth and balanced flavor with hints of oakwood.
The Coronation Khukri is notable for its bottle shaped like the traditional Nepalese dagger, symbolizing bravery and elegance.
Khukri Rum has garnered international acclaim, winning awards like the Gold at the London Spirits Competition, embodying the spirit of Nepal in every sip.
